ContactThe concept of the CUT 2500S is based on the idea that many different tasks and challenges can be managed with just one machine. A key element is here the variably adjustable machine working bench. When the portals are pulled apart completely, the largest CNC hot wire cutting machine of the series - the CUT 2550S - will have a size of two by six meters, which is an area of around 129 square feet. At this point, the maximum usable wire length will be 5,100 mm.
The CUT 2500S works with four independent cutting axes. Even complicated interlaced cuts for 3D objects like conical columns will come out perfectly. The optional rotating table expands the CUT 2500S by a fifth rotational axis, which is entirely controlled by the computer. This enables the user to also cut symmetrical objects and sculptures like chess figurines, spheres and balls as well as asymmetrical objects like hemispheres accurately and fast. If you now add a pre-shaped profile wire, this chameleon turns into a turning lathe for Styrofoam.

With all these versatile functions, there is hardly anything that the 2500 series won't be able to do. Its bigger sister series will mostly focus on other focal points, such as different kinds of production. For example is the CUT 2900S series extremely well suited for the production of boards and it can cut insulation panels with up to ten cutting wires simultaneously. Even our most universal and fastest Styrofoam cutting machine CUT 3000S isn't able to cut such big blocks.
Due to its movable portals, the CUT 2500S can only be loaded from its long sides. This requires a lot of time and also some experience (instinctive feeling) - especially with very large and heavy Styrofoam blocks. The CUT 2500S is the perfect Styrofoam cutting machine for beginners, who need some room for improvement. Like all our machines, this model series is made in Germany and is especially well suited for long cuts and objects, such as Stucco and crown molding, profiles or floating devices. Please have a look at the most important features:
The quality of the CUT 2500S is predominantly defined by its extremely sturdy construction and the machine table with two portals. We have purposefully made the decision not to go with the less robust Aluminum and instead opted for a much stronger painted steel construction. This prevents any torsion and twisting of the frame during production - even if the machine is working on a 200 kilogram Styrofoam block. The machine can be loaded from both long sides.
The setup of the 2500 series has been optimized so that the monitor screen, keyboard and the mouse are all integrated within the machine. This way it saves on additional space, which would otherwise be occupied by a control stand or working table. The "Touchscreen Package" will upgrade the CUT 2500S to an even more comfortable display that will react to your finger pressure! The benefit is obvious: You will be able to use the unit intuitively and make less mistakes when entering any data or making any on-screen choices.
With regards to the wire length and tasks, the CUT 2500S will give you multiple options to choose from:
Spring:
The eyelet screws of the left and right unit are each connected
to a coil spring, which each hold the end of a wire. The advantage
is here that the cutting wire can be easily disengaged and re-engaged,
which in turn simplifies especially monolithic cuts and therefore
speeds up the overall process. The spring makes sure that the cutting
wire stays taut throughout the cutting. A stiffer version of the
spring is also available and should be used for parallel cuts. For
4 axes cuts with longer wires we recommend the softer spring.
Wire tensioner:
The automatic wire tensioner enables cleaner results with very long
cutting wire lengths. Even though the length of the cutting wire
might change during the cutting process, the wire tensioner will
literally jump into action and keep the wire taut automatically.
This is particularly helpful for the cutting of truncated cones
or conical columns. The device contains a sensor, a motor and an
electronic control unit, which keeps track of the wire length during
the entire process. As soon as the wire length changes, the electronic
brain of the device will tighten the wire accordingly. The motor
will either roll the wire up or release more wire as it goes along.
The fully automated wire tensioner works independently of the Styrofoam
cutting machine and the software.
The optional rotating table will add a vertical rotary axis to the four cutting axes of the Styrofoam cutting machine. This axis is also computer controlled, which allows the machine to magically create symmetrical objects such as vases or eggs as well as asymmetrical objects like hemispheres.
This thing does exactly what it says - a pre-shaped profile wire can cut the most complex silhouettes in a very short amount of time. The CNC machine will move the shaped wire in all three axes (X, Y, Z), which allows impeccable results - as if the object had been lathed.
To shape the cutting wire into the desired form you can easily use a template, prototype or model previously made of Styrodur (XPS), which can also be done by the CUT 2500S. Only the bending and shaping of the wire around the template will be done manually. If the measurements don't have to be exact, a skillful hand can do this even without a template.
Our tip: The shapeable wire works extremely well with the computer controlled rotation table (see above). The collaboration of the two will produce symmetrical Styrofoam 3D objects such as column capitals, bases and heads in no time.
The CNC Styrofoam cutting machine of the CUT 2500S series can easily be converted into a Styrofoam mill. The mill head is movable in all three axes (X, Y, Z) and really is a very powerful extension. We encourage you to compare the CUT 2500S with any other CNC milling machines in the same price category. Our chameleon will turn into a very hungry wolf and take on any type of EPS, XPS, EPP foams as well as other materials like a hot knife through butter. The optional axis extension will even allow for milling into PVC, wood, GFK, CFK and other harder materials. We recommend that you order the stabilizing axis extension with our original order.
The board cutting function of the CUT 2500S you will be able to produce smaller panels in the desired format out of larger boards very easily. The trimming process is part of this specific function within the software, which will cut two or more thinner panels out of one thicker board. Obviously, Styrofoam blocks are also suited for this type of cutting. Larger blocks (also ashlars) can first be cut into smaller boards, which are then cut into the final product. Our software will even apply its nesting mode, which optimizes the material in such a way that the thinner panels are cut with the least amount of product waste.
The laterally open and modular construction of the CUT 2500S makes any maintenance very simple. We do recommend to periodically clean the Styrofoam cutting machine and to grease it lightly
The 0,3 mm cutting wire of the CUT 2500S can be exchanged according to its wear and tear. We deliver it on a spool, so you can decide for yourself, how much wire you want to use
The cutting wire of the CUT 2500S will always have the correct temperature to guarantee clean cuts when processing Styrofoam, Styrodur or polyurethane foams. The reason behind this is the sophisticated current control, which contains a microprocessor that controls the power supply particularly during interlaced cutting, as the wire lengths will vary during this process. The current control will also pick up any fluctuations in the power supply and automatically regulate these with its minicomputer. This way, we can guarantee that every cut will be clean and accurate.
The software will allow you to easily and fast create 4 axis cutting programs for EPS and XPS boards or blocks with one wire. Optionally, Polystyrene blocks can also be cut with the integrated nesting mode, which will eliminate excessive material waste. The program will import 2D contours in DXF format and then calculate the final 2D and 3D cutting data within mere seconds. The numerical control information is then transferred via the network or per USB stick directly into the machine, which then translates the G-codes in the integrated CNC software.
Creating this cutting data on a separate PC has one defining advantage: The preparation step will not stop the production on the CNC Styrofoam cutting machine. Therefore, the user can already set up the next project, whilst the machine is still processing the previous one.
StyroCAM is also a cloud based software (SaaS) and runs in all modern browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. Therefore it is compatible with all Windows and Mac computers.
