THE RIGHT CNC ROUTER FOR YOUR APPLICATION

CNC routing for different workpieces and applications

All our CNC routers can perform 2.5D and 3D machining. The key difference is therefore not whether a machine can perform 3D routing, but which additional machining function your application requires.

The AC Series is our classic 3-axis CNC router. The W2 Series adds an oscillating knife to the routing spindle, the W4 Series adds a horizontal rotary axis, and the GK Series adds a swiveling routing head as a 4th axis.

This means you do not simply choose the larger machine, but the machine design that fits your workpiece, material and production task.

MACHINE SELECTION

Four machine concepts at a glance

All four series can route contours, pockets, and 2.5D and 3D geometries. The choice mainly depends on which additional function you need.

AC Series – for classic CNC routing

The AC Series is our classic 3-axis CNC router for sheets and workpieces. It machines contours, pockets, cut-outs, holes, and 2.5D and 3D geometries.

It is the right choice when your production does not require an additional knife, rotary or swiveling-axis function.

W2 Series – for routing and knife cutting

The W2 Series combines a 3-axis CNC router with an oscillating knife. This allows the same machine to produce both routed and knife-cut contours.

This is particularly useful for packaging, acoustic elements, foams and other sheet materials, where, depending on the part, the router or knife provides the more economical process.

W4 Series – when you also need a horizontal rotary axis

The W4 Series is also a full 3-axis CNC router and can perform essentially the same routing operations as the AC Series. In addition, it features a horizontal rotary axis.

This makes it particularly suitable for props, statues, figures, columns and other workpieces that need machining all around – for example for film and television, stage construction, theme parks and decoration.

GK Series – for machining large blocks and workpieces

The GK Series combines 3-axis machining with a swiveling routing head as a 4th axis. The routing head can machine the workpiece from different angles and from the side.

It is designed for large material blocks and large-volume workpieces and is particularly suitable for EPS, PU/PUR, foams, model making and mold making.

Frequently asked questions

What are the differences between the four CNC router series?

All four series can perform 2.5D and 3D machining. The deciding factor is which additional function your application requires: classic 3-axis machining with the AC Series, routing plus oscillating knife with the W2 Series, routing plus horizontal rotary axis with the W4 Series, or large workpieces with a swiveling routing head with the GK Series.

Can all CNC routers machine 2.5D and 3D?

Yes. The AC, W2, W4 and GK Series can machine 2.5D and 3D geometries. The series differ not in whether 3D is possible, but in their additional functions and machine design.

When is the AC Series the right choice?

When you need a classic 3-axis CNC router for contours, pockets, cut-outs, holes, and 2.5D and 3D machining, without an additional knife, rotary-axis or swiveling-head function.

Show more questions

When do I need the W2 Series?

When you want to route and cut with an oscillating knife on the same machine. This is particularly useful for packaging, acoustic elements, foams and other sheet materials.

When is the W4 Series useful?

When you need a horizontal rotary axis in addition to normal 3-axis machining. This makes the W4 Series particularly suitable for props, statues, figures, columns and other workpieces that need machining all around, for example for film and television, stage construction, theme parks and decoration.

When is the GK Series the right choice?

For large workpieces and material blocks where a swiveling routing head as a 4th axis offers advantages. The GK Series can machine workpieces from different angles and from the side and is particularly suitable for EPS, PU/PUR, foams, model making and mold making.

Which materials can be machined?

Depending on the series and application, our CNC routers machine foams, EPS, PU/PUR, plastics, wood, composite materials and aluminum, among others. The right machine depends not only on the material, but also on workpiece size and the required machining operations.

Can you help me select the right machine?
