Hot wire cut-to-length machine for cutting blocks to length.
Here you will find an overview of our block cutting machines for EPS and Neopor – from cutting whole blocks to length to slicing them into panels, strips and blocks.
A block cutting machine processes whole EPS and Neopor blocks with heated hot wires – from cutting them to length to slicing them into panels, tapered boards, strips or blocks.
There are two working methods: In cutting to length, the block is cut to defined lengths and thus prepared for further processing. In the multi-wire process (Blockslicer), several wires cut through the block at the same time, so that multiple cut parts are produced in a single pass.
The block is fed through the cutting unit on a conveyor belt or roller conveyor. This makes block cutting machines production machines for series: once set up, large quantities of identical cut parts can be produced economically.
The machines process EPS and Neopor blocks – only these foams are available as whole blocks. Materials such as rock wool, PIR, PU or PUR cannot be cut with a hot wire.
The machines work semi-automatically – without a computer and without programming. Feed speed and wire temperature are matched to the material.
For cutting whole blocks to length and slicing them, several machines are available – from cutting to length and the multi-wire panel cutter to the gang cutting machine and the complete cutting line.

Semi-automatic complete system for processing whole blocks.
Wherever identical cut parts are produced in series from EPS and Neopor blocks – from insulation boards and tapered roof insulation to packaging cut-outs. Choose the application that best suits your production.
The number of wires, wire spacing, feed speed and material density influence cut quality, dimensional accuracy and production speed.
In our knowledge articles we explain the key technical relationships around hot wire and multi-wire cutting and give guidance on selection and use.
A block cutting machine processes whole EPS and Neopor blocks with heated hot wires – from cutting them to length to slicing them into panels, tapered boards, strips or blocks. When cutting to length, the block is only cut to length and thus prepared for further processing. Many models work in the multi-wire process and cut with several wires at the same time.
Block cutting machines process EPS and Neopor blocks. XPS and EPP are only available as boards and are therefore not suitable for block processing; materials such as rock wool, PIR, PU or PUR cannot be cut with a hot wire.
That depends on whether you want to cut blocks only to length or slice them into panels, strips and blocks – and on the material and quantity. You will find an overview of the suitable machines above in the machines section; each tile leads to the detailed product page. We are also happy to advise you personally.
In cutting to length, the block is cut to defined lengths with a hot wire – this prepares the material for further processing. In multi-wire cutting, several wires cut through the block at the same time into panels, strips or blocks, so that multiple cut parts are produced in a single pass.
Block cutting machines are production machines for series manufacturing. Setting up the machine takes time; once it is set up, large quantities of identical cut parts can be produced quickly and economically. For single or constantly changing dimensions, manual reconfiguration is less worthwhile.
For cutting to length, one hot wire per cut is sufficient. The multi-wire machines cut with several wires at the same time – up to 10 cutting wires (20 optional) or up to 60 cutting wires on the gang cutting machines.
On the large gang cutting machines the cutting area is enclosed and fitted with an extraction hood (connection Ø 500 mm), because smoke and odours are produced when cutting with many wires. A company extraction system or a separate air filter unit is connected.
