VERSATILE WIRE CUTTING

One machine – many materials

Our CNC contour cutting machines process a wide range of foam and insulation materials with a fast-running cutting wire. The wire cuts the material mechanically – without melting it with heat.

The versatility comes from choosing the right cutting wire: a different wire is used depending on the material. Changing it usually takes only about 1–2 minutes. This lets you use the same machine for different cutting tasks – for example for stone wool, glass wool, PUR/PIR, EPP, EPS or XPS.

The video shows how the cutting wire is changed.

MATERIALS IN PRACTICE

CNC contour cutting machines in action

How can different foams and insulation materials be cut with a continuous cutting wire? Our application videos show concrete examples of machining various materials – from flexible foams to rigid insulation materials.

EPP packaging lids

EPP packaging lids

CNC-controlled cutting of EPP foam into slices to produce precisely fitting lids for EPP packaging.

The details of the actual application for video 3 are still missing.

EPP packaging

EPP packaging

CNC contour cutting of an upright EPP foam board to produce custom packaging contours with a continuous cutting wire.

EPS packaging

EPS packaging

CNC cutting of an EPS block to produce a shaped packaging. The first cut produces the continuous profile. A second contour cut then adds angled cut-outs for the custom packaging geometry.

XPS material samples

XPS material samples

CNC cutting of an upright XPS rigid foam board with a board holder. Individual test specimens for material testing at the manufacturer are cut from the board.

PE window insulation

PE window insulation

CNC contour cutting of a horizontal board of non-crosslinked polyethylene foam (PE) to produce insulation profiles for windows. The continuous cutting wire allows precise machining of custom profile geometries.

PE insulation profiles

PE insulation profiles

CNC contour cutting of a horizontal board of non-crosslinked polyethylene foam (PE) to produce window insulation profiles. This video shows a different profile geometry than video 7.

Cutting stone wool

Cutting stone wool

CNC-controlled cutting of an upright stone wool board with a bulk density of 60 kg/m³. The continuous cutting wire enables the mechanical machining of the insulation material.

Stone wool – cutting strategy

Stone wool – cutting strategy

CNC-controlled cutting of an upright stone wool board with a bulk density of 60 kg/m³. Compared with video 9, a different cutting strategy is used to demonstrate the machining options with a continuous cutting wire.

Stone wool – insulation contours

Stone wool – insulation contours

CNC contour cutting of an upright stone wool board with a bulk density of 60 kg/m³. The video shows the production of another contour geometry for insulation applications with a continuous cutting wire.

Mineral wool wedges

Mineral wool wedges

CNC-controlled cutting of wedge-shaped insulation elements from a horizontal mineral wool board. The continuous cutting wire enables precise angled cuts to produce custom insulation wedges.

Natural rubber mattresses

Natural rubber mattresses

CNC contour cutting of a horizontal mattress made of natural rubber (natural latex). The continuous cutting wire enables the mechanical machining of custom contours for mattress production.
