LETTERS & LOGOS

From raw material to the finished advertising element

Letters, logos and lettering are often produced from EPS or XPS. The contours can be cut cleanly and reproducibly with CNC hot wire.

For indoor use, the finished elements are often painted with acrylic paint. For outdoor use they can be given a durable protective coating.

Which machine makes sense depends mainly on whether you process EPS blocks or standard XPS panels.

MACHINE SELECTION

What would you like to process?

Choose the material from which you want to produce your letters and logos.

Letters and logos from EPS?

For flexible production from EPS, the CUT3000S series is our main solution. Whole EPS blocks can first be cut into slices or panels with the required material thickness. From these cuts you then produce letters, logos and lettering.

This means you are not dependent on pre-made panel thicknesses and can produce different material thicknesses directly from the block.

For smaller working areas, the CUT2000S series is an alternative. It too can prepare EPS blocks for further contour processing.

Letters and logos from XPS?

For letters and logos from standard XPS panels, the CUT1610S is our compact solution.

The XPS panels can first be trimmed and cut to the desired thickness. The actual letters, logos or lettering are then cut from them.

This makes the CUT1610S particularly suitable for small and medium cuts from commercially available XPS panels.

Paint or coat?

After cutting, the further processing depends on where the letters or logos will be used.

For indoor use: painting

For indoor use, letters and logos from EPS or XPS can simply be painted with acrylic paint.

This gives the cut elements the desired colour and allows them to match the corporate design or the respective styling.

For outdoor use: coating

For outdoor use, letters and logos are given a protective coating.

For this we offer two solutions: Qspray 1000 S as a polyurea cartridge spray system and Speedliner Pro as a sprayable protective coating that can be tinted in RAL colours.

This allows colour and protection to be integrated into the further production process.

RESIDUAL MATERIAL

Shred EPS offcuts directly

Especially when cutting letters and logos, the many outer and inner contours leave a relatively large amount of residual EPS material.

With the SHD2000S recycling station, larger offcuts can be shredded directly and the volume of the residual material significantly reduced.

STYROCAM MONO

Cut letters without a visible incision

With letters such as O, B, D, P or R, the cutting wire has to travel from the outer contour to the inner contour during normal contour cutting. This creates a visible pass-through in the letter.

This spot is often glued and concealed afterwards. With the styroCAM Mono program module, however, closed inner contours can be cut without this pass-through.

For this, a hole is drilled inside the inner contour. The cutting wire is threaded through this opening and the inner contour is then cut separately.

Set holes automatically

If a CNC router such as the AC series or W2 series is also available, styroCAM creates the matching drilling file. The router can then set all the required threading holes automatically, instead of measuring the positions individually and drilling manually.

Frequently asked questions

Which materials are suitable for letters and logos?

For this application we mainly use EPS and XPS. EPS is often prepared from whole blocks, XPS is usually processed from standard panels.

Which machine do you recommend for EPS?

Our focus for producing letters and logos from EPS is the CUT3000S series. It can first cut the EPS block to the desired material thickness and then produce the contours.

Which machine do you recommend for XPS?

For standard XPS panels, the CUT1610S is particularly suitable. The panels can be cut to the desired thickness and then contoured.

Show more questions

How are letters finished for indoor use?

For indoor use, letters and logos from EPS or XPS can be painted with acrylic paint.

How are letters protected for outdoor use?

For outdoor use, the parts can be given a protective coating. For this we offer Qspray 1000 S and Speedliner Pro.

What happens to the residual EPS material?

Larger offcuts can be shredded directly with the SHD2000S recycling station.

How do I avoid a visible incision on O or B?

With styroCAM Mono, the inner contour can be cut via a separate threading hole. This means no pass-through from the outer to the inner contour is required.
