In practice the rotation table is needed far less often than customers assume.
Many customers come with the wish for a rotation table - they want to cut spheres, vases, columns or half-spheres from EPS. In practice however it frequently turns out: the rotation table is bought and then barely used. Our recommendation: leave it out initially. All suitable machines are prepared for retrofitting.
A rotation table extends a 4-axis machine by a rotary axis - it becomes the 5th axis. The EPS block is clamped onto the table and rotates in a controlled way while the hot wire cuts. The result is bodies of revolution: spheres, columns, vases, eggs, half-spheres. For these shapes there is no other option in hot wire cutting.
We recommend leaving the rotation table out initially. All suitable machines are prepared for retrofitting - if a real need arises it can be retrofitted. If rotation is really planned: we recommend the CUT3000S because of the largest Y travel in the portfolio (up to 1600 mm) - this makes larger bodies of revolution possible.
The key questions and answers on this topic.
A rotation table is worth it when bodies of revolution such as columns, spheres or vases are produced regularly. For occasional special parts the effort is usually not justified.
Yes. All suitable cnc-multitool machines are prepared for retrofitting. That is why we recommend leaving the rotation table out initially and retrofitting it if there is a real need.
The CUT3000S - thanks to the largest Y travel in the portfolio (up to 1600 mm), it can produce the largest bodies of revolution.
We honestly analyse whether a rotation table makes sense for your production.
